Episode 518 Unsolicited Advice? Who Likes That? Me—I'm Growing Up
Elizabeth Chance

In this episode, I talk about my journey of personal growth, sharing the ups and downs of dealing with unsolicited advice, judgment, and how we see ourselves. Life has a way of throwing challenges our way, but I’ve learned that these moments often hold the biggest lessons if we’re willing to embrace them.

Let’s be real—unsolicited advice can be annoying. But I’ve come to realize that it usually says more about the person giving it than it does about me. Judgment? Oh, that’s often just a reflection of someone else’s insecurities or shame. And when it comes to how we view others, it’s usually shaped by what’s going on inside us.

One of the things that helps me stay grounded is starting the day with prayer and mindfulness. It sets a positive tone and reminds me to stay open to life’s lessons—even the hard ones. Speaking of hard lessons, criticism used to sting, but now I see it as an opportunity to grow. Approaching feedback with an open mind has been a game-changer.

Asking for help? That used to be tough for me. I thought it made me weak. But guess what? It’s a sign of strength. We’re not meant to do life alone—everyone has their own journey, and we all deserve support along the way.

One of my biggest takeaways is this: life is about the journey, not just the destination. Embracing vulnerability has deepened my connections with others and strengthened my sense of self. Self-acceptance is key to finding true happiness.

Takeaways from this episode:

  • Unsolicited advice often reflects the giver's perspective.

  • Judgment from others can stem from their insecurities and shame.

  • How we perceive others is influenced by our internal state.

  • Prayer and mindfulness can set a positive tone for the day.

  • Criticism can be a tool for growth if approached with an open mind.

  • Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

  • Everyone has a unique journey and deserves support.

  • Life is about the journey, not just the destination.

  • Embracing vulnerability can lead to deeper connections.

  • Self-acceptance is crucial for personal growth and happiness.

The St. Francis Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Episode 513 Missed Dr. John Delony? Here's the Edited Replay for Your Enjoyment!
Elizabeth Chance

In this episode, Dr. John Delony and I dive into the big stuff—parenting, anxiety, addiction, and the loneliness so many of us feel today. We explore how social media fuels comparison and isolation, why kids need more support (not just ADHD labels), and how addiction often masks deeper pain. We also talk about finding strength in faith, setting boundaries, and healing from trauma. Plus, why it’s so important to embrace discomfort, prioritize what really matters, and stop letting your kids carry your emotional baggage!

Key Takeaways:

Parenting shapes kids’ emotional and mental health.

Social media = loneliness and comparison traps.

Addiction is often a painkiller for life’s struggles.

Setting boundaries and practicing self-care = sanity savers.

Faith can help guide you through life’s challenges.
